How RaySnap collects, uses, and protects your personal information
Last updated: April 2026
1. Information We Collect
We only collect information necessary to provide the service: • Account info: a unique identifier, display name, avatar, and email (if authorized) obtained via Google or GitHub OAuth. • Profile data: display name, bio, and avatar you provide yourself. • Content: photos you upload, image EXIF metadata (camera, lens, aperture, shutter, ISO, focal length, shot time, GPS if available), titles, descriptions, and creative notes. • Interaction data: likes, favorites, comments, views, and scoring records. • Logs: IP address, timestamps, and device type recorded at sign-in for account security.
2. How We Use Information
The information we collect is used only for: • Providing core functionality such as sign-in, publishing, browsing, interaction, and theme events. • Displaying EXIF metadata so others can learn photography techniques. • Content safety moderation to prevent unlawful or harmful content. • Rankings, category search, and personalized discovery. • Analytics to improve the product experience.
3. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. Exceptions: • Public by you: photos, display name, avatar, and comments you publish are visible to everyone. • Legal requirements: we may disclose information when required by law, litigation, or competent authorities. • Service providers: we use Cloudflare for compute, storage, and CDN; data is handled under its privacy policies.
4. Images and GPS Data
Uploaded images are processed for EXIF metadata extraction, including GPS location (if your device recorded it). If you prefer not to disclose your shooting location, please strip GPS info from photos before uploading. RAW originals are for your own download only and are not directly exposed to other visitors.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and remember language preferences and UI settings. You may clear them in your browser, but you will need to sign in again.
6. Data Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures including HTTPS, signed image tokens, and third-party OAuth. Please also protect your own account credentials and avoid signing in on untrusted devices.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to: • View and edit your profile. • Delete works and interactions you have published. • Request account deletion via the contact channels below. • Raise questions or complaints about our privacy practices.
